The sleeve cuff should fall around your thumb knuckle so that if you make a fist, your whole hand is covered.
Wool does not absorb odors so if it’s not visibly stained, air out your anorak in a dry place for a day or two. Should you stain your wool anorak, simply clean it with some mild soap and water by dabbing (not scrubbing) the spot. Never machine wash your anorak. For best results, dry clean.
I bought this for my boyfriend and got it in a size too small. I didn't realize it's meant to be big. Emailed customer service for an XL and they were very helpful. Even sent me a reminder to send the garment out because they were running low in stock and I was taking my sweet time lol got the replacement very quickly and my boyfriend loves it! Grateful for the help and the kind reminder so that I could secure the correct size for him before they ran out for the season.
Not only did this amazing jacket proved to keep me warm through New Hampshire’s -14 windchill, but customer service was amazing and expedient and collecting and shipping out my order when I had mistakenly ordered the wrong size. They will always have my business and look forward to buying and testing more of their gear!!
I bought the Arcturus Anorak last fall and have been wearing it almost daily this winter in western Washington.
The construction is solid, the wool felt moderates your temperature and typically I wear it with a cotton hoodie as landscaper and barefoot hiker.
The pocket is perfect for hand warming and outdoor necessities. The hood is larger than most but it looks distinctive and is great for covering ones face at night in the cold while sleeping.
The lacing system does dangle a bit when its cinched up but it offers ample adjustability and could be tied together or tucked in to reduce length. You might not notice the button toggles securing the neck flap to the left of your neck inside the garment, but I resewed the top two of these on after clipping a tool to the flap for easy access, which weighed down the flap.
This is my favorite jacket and I think if you appreciate natural materials that you'll like it too. I cant speak to how this compares to the more expensive brands because I've never used them, but I am very happy with my purchase. Follow the sizing guide.
I spend a lot of time outside in the winter, from PA, to OH to northern MI. I'm either very active, or just chilling by the fire outside. I prefer wool, but also have blended, winter, exterior gear. For a wool top, I always wanted something more than a wool shit jacket. I read all of the reviews on this jacket. At 5'-8", 185lbs, I went with a large. It is slightly snug in the shoulders and I need to cuff the sleeves. I've used it 4x this winter with a thermal long underwear top as a base layer. After about 3 hours of darkness and temperatures falling into the low 20's, I'll need my heavier jacket unless I'm standing right next to the fire. The large pockets are great. I did read reviews about the hood being too big - I have to agree. It's just too big. Even with my super warm hat, the hood falls right over my face and gets annoying. The shoulder reinforcements is no joke. It works and is an excellent detail, especially when you get rain at 32 degree. I will either out-wear this jacket, or it will outlast me! If they do make the hood a little smaller, I will buy another one and gift my original. Oh, I also own one of their blankets. The blanket is awesome too! Keep making quality gear, ARCTURUS!
I live about 8200’ in a canyon in SW CO and we can have severe winters at times. This winter is one of them and my new jacket is performing just as advertised. From working in elements to snow shoeing, I’m pleased with performance of jacket. I’m 5’8” , 150 and ordered the XS going by site measurements and it fits perfectly with enough room under for base layer and other thin layers if needed. So far with wind chill in negatives and 25+ mile an hour winds and snow, I’ve been super comfortable with minimal layers underneath. Well worth the money so far and very pleased with reinforced shoulders for carrying pack since I’m always carrying one.
